CARL'S STATEMENT ON HALL OF FAME
I thank God for my selection. I thank God for Coach Rodell Thomas, who nominated me for the hall of fame, and for those who wrote letters of recommendation: my former high school coach Frank Yanossy, my former high school principal Dr. James Ray, Coach Jackie Sherrill, and Bob Trumpy. I would also love to thank coach Alvin Wyatt and my college coaches along with my spiritual leaders, pastor and Bishop & Mrs. George Clark, and important people in my life: my wife Michelle, and my children who I love very much, and Jeff Meyers who believed in me from the beginning. I feel really blessed that after all these years an honor like this could happen to me. When I I was a little kid, I used to actually dream about playing varsity sports in high school. But now, to be among these great players, that’s something I never could’ve imagined. A one-legged athlete in the hall of fame gives hope to disabled people that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and never quit.

Since opening in 1991, the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame has enshrined 112 individuals, all with two legs.
