| CARL'S STATEMENT ON HALL OF FAME | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| I thank God for my selection. I thank God for Coach Rodell Thomas, who nominated me for the hall of fame, and for those who wrote letters of recommendation: my former high school coach Frank Yanossy, my former high school principal Dr. James Ray, Coach Jackie Sherrill, and Bob Trumpy. I would also love to thank coach Alvin Wyatt and my college coaches along with my spiritual leaders, pastor and Bishop & Mrs. George Clark, and important people in my life: my wife Michelle, and my children who I love very much, and Jeff Meyers who believed in me from the beginning. I feel really blessed that after all these years an honor like this could happen to me. When I I was a little kid, I used to actually dream about playing varsity sports in high school. But now, to be among these great players, that’s something I never could’ve imagined. A one-legged athlete in the hall of fame gives hope to disabled people that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and never quit. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
Since opening in 1991, the Florida High School Athletic Hall of Fame has enshrined 112 individuals, all with two legs. |
